These are small pet products that we have personally used or received direct recommendations from other small pet owners. We review products based on their safety for a particular pet, as well as the enrichment and quality-of-life improvements they offer.
These products may be suitable for animals other than those we’ve listed, but we are only evaluating them for mice, gerbils, and hamsters.

Note: The options below can be used as dig boxes or sand baths for hamsters and gerbils. Mice do not need and shouldn’t have a sand bath, but they can use these items as dig boxes.
Hides
Note: Most of these hides can be used for gerbils, mice, or hamsters. However, we don’t recommend hanging hides for most hamsters, since they’re not good climbers. We also don’t recommend hides with only one way in or out for most gerbils. This is why we list some of these hides as only suitable for one or two of the three.
